A.R.T.S.Y. Magazine - Celestial Beings

Meet Alex & River – two trans women of color who were in love and who have engaged in two of the most powerful expressions of it: marriage and art. Together, Alex & River have established a burgeoning creative partnership that brings multiple forms of media to life. By using their eclectic energy to bring their art to life, they explain, Alex & River are able to generate the representation they both so desperately craved when they were younger.

Their courage to come forth and present their truest selves, their art and their love so publicly and with so much conviction are all reasons I knew Alex & River would be imperative to have in A.R.T.S.Y. Magazine’s annual women’s issue for 2019.

It is my hope that viewers can see their beauty and strength and, in turn, find the light within themselves – especially at a time when we are increasingly forced into a dichotomy of definitions and where we are given no choice but to live within the lines.
